UPSL Announces Ohio Expansion with Cincy Soccer Club

Cincinnati (Ohio)-Based Pro Development Club Joins UPSL for 2020 Season

July 8, 2019 – Los Angeles – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is excited to announce Cincy Soccer Club as a new league member kicking off with the 2020 Spring Season.

Based in Cincinnati (Ohio), Cincy SC will begin play in UPSL Division I Midwest Conference, and is finalizing its venue options in compliance with UPSL Minimum Standards.

United Premier Soccer League Midwest Manager Cliff Conrad said, "We're thrilled to add the Cincy SC to the Midwest Conference. The city loves its soccer, and we're thankful to the group for bringing Pro Development soccer back to the Queen City. The players there deserve more opportunities, and Cincy SC is the perfect fit for the UPSL. We wish them the best as the get set for the 2020 Spring Season."

Cincy SC is the Pro Development team for Cincinnati Soccer Club, a training academy and multi-tiered club for boys and girls, ages 6-to-17. Cincinnati SC features recreational and competitive teams that participate in the Buckeye Premier Youth Soccer League (BPYSL) and the Greater Cincinnati Soccer League (GCSL).

Russell Lewis is the Owner and Director of Soccer Operations for Cincinnati Soccer Club. Lewis holds a UEFA 'B' Coaching License, and has operated Cincinnati SC since 2015.

Bret Marshall is Owner and Head Coach of Cincy Soccer Club. A native of Cincinnati, Marshall was a three-year varsity player at Cincinnati's Finneytown High School before going to Richmond (Ind.)'s Earlham College (NCAA). Marshall also has had stints with Cincinnati Saints (NPSL) and Indy Eleven (USL), and currently works as a Software Engineer.

Cincy Soccer Club Owner said, "We're excited to join the UPSL. We want to compete at a high level, we wanted something more serious, and we didn't want to wait anymore so we've decided to do it ourselves. We've played locally, and with and against a bunch of really good players who want there to be something more in Cincinnati than just the local scene, so we put out the call for this team and it turns out the level is really high. We've got a squad of quality players and we're all in. We're going for it."

Connor Zimmermann is General Manager and Assistant Coach of Cincy Soccer Club. A native of Cincinnati, Zimmerman was a three-year varsity player at Finneytown HS. A youth coach for Cincinnati Soccer Club, Zimmerman is currently pursuing UEFA coaching certification.

Cincy SC will host tryouts by invitation only, and will announce its upcoming game schedule.

Cincy Soccer Club is an American Soccer club currently based in Cincinnati, Ohio, and a new member of the United Premier Soccer League. Cincy SC will play in the UPSL's Midwest Conference.

Founded in 2015, Cincy SC can participate in the qualifying rounds for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup through their affiliation and membership with the UPSL, the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).

United Premier Soccer League

The UPSL was formed in 2011 and currently includes more than 300 teams in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin. UPSL is the fastest growing Pro Development League in the USA, with 400-plus teams targeted for 2019 Fall Season. Each UPSL team is individually owned and operated, and is responsible for maintaining either UPSL Pro Premier Division or Championship Division minimum standards.

UPSL teams are all eligible to participate in the U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Rounds through the leagues affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
